A [♥Akime] -- Pt IV

A.I.S.H.I.T.E.R.U

Chapter 1 ♥ Akime ; Afraid

Part IV

Akime stared at Sui. “Sui…” she whispered as she looked at a serious looking Sui. His usual grin would have looked very awkward if it was present. Instead, the straight stern no nonsense look quickly took its place. Akime felt her heart beat faster as she saw Sui’s serious expression. “Do…don’t joke already…” Akime snapped as she looked away.

“I’m serious.” Sui said coldly making chills run up her spine as he walked forward. His shoes soles clicking in the serene night atmosphere.

“Why? Stop it… stop wasting your time on me already…” Akime pleaded

“She’s right, Sui, its time for you to stop playing and start being serious.” A masculine voice interrupted the couple from their heated quarrel. The latter turned and saw a middle aged man wearing a suit with light blue hair walking towards them.

“Shut up.” Sui snapped.

“Sui sama, you should know about how many guys she slept around with, are you sure that she is somebody that you would like to be serious with?” the lad continued. Akime stood rooted to the ground as the lad continued to rattle on her history. Her disgraceful past.

“Stop it!” Akime finally yelled. Unable to contain her shame anymore, tears spilled out. “Stop it… its enough…” Akime sobbed. “Farewell, my dear Sui…” Akime smiled as tears flowed. Without giving Sui a chance to talk, she turned and walked down the empty red tiled pathway.

“Sui sama, return with me to the States.” The lad finally announced.

“Shut up. I’m never going back to the States without Akime.” Sui spat as he turned and walked away.

“Sui sama, your coat.” The lad exclaimed as he chased after Sui.

“Shut up!” Sui yelled as he throw the coat on the ground. A growl immediately made its debut on Sui’s angry face. The lad frozen by shock of Sui’s fury stopped pursuing Sui and just froze at the spot and watched as Sui walked back to his apartment.

// Why can’t you understand me? Without you, I’m living in Singapore without chicken rice...//

Akime dragged her feet till she reached her house. Sighing, she pushed open the black metal gate and stepped into the grounds of the mansion. Once she stepped in, the gate slammed. Ignoring the slam, Akime walked down the curved pathway that led to the big Russian like door. She pushed it open and slumped into the common room.

“You’re late...” She heard Arzeal hiss. She looked up and saw Arzeal seating comfortably on a royal purple cushion armchair with Sting on his right and Shani on the other.

“I’m home…” Akime whispered as she headed towards the stairs wanting to fall into her bed and just snooze away and forget this episode.

“Where are you going?” Arzeal asked as he stood up and walked towards Akime.

“Look! I just came home, would you just shut your freaking mouth and let me sleep!” Akime snapped irritated. Immediately, a kick met her stomach. As she fell to the ground, she saw her past flash in front of her. She blinked as she heard a wail. The wail was not from the present but it was wailing in her mind. Suddenly, her eyes stung as the plug head hit her upper cheek bone scratching her delicate skin. She brought her hand up to the open wound and touched it. She looked at it and saw blood.

// It hurts… no not my physical… but my heart…//

Akime gripped her chest tightly and struggled to get off her bed. Suddenly, the door opened.

“Geez, what are you trying to do?!” Nicol asked as he rushed to help her up.

“I need to go to see Obaasan… today she’s having a checkup… I…” Akime panted as she pushed Nicol’s helping hands away and ambled painfully to the closet and pulled out a teal coloured turtle neck top and matched it with a black skirt with white flowers. Akime stretched out her hand for support. Nicol immediately rushed and gripped her shoulders to balance her and led her to the door and slowly, he helped her down the steps slowly. Each step down was enough to make Akime wince in pain. At the common room laid at the first floor, Nicol settled Akime down onto a sky blue couch while he went to fetch her brown fur boots. Akime smiled as she received her boots and put it on and grabbed her jewel tone double breasted trench coat and placed it on. Placing his hand on Akime’s shoulder to support her, Nicol led her to his French metallic blue convertible. He opened the door and allowed her to enter before he took the driver’s seat.

After a 20 minutes ride, the car stopped in front of a white building. Nicol opened the door and Akime exited the car. She stumbled a little as she walked across the parking stop to the entrance where the automatic door slid open when she approached near it. She then headed for the lift and pressed the 4th button which beside the button was a small gray panel that wrote “Wards for Cancer Patient” and below the sentence was the word “Nursery”.

After awhile, the lift reached the 4th storey and the door slid open allowing Akime and Nicol to exit the rather empty lift. After exiting the lift, they headed down a broad corridor where on the wall were glass paned hinge windows. Akime walked pass a sub-path that led to another area and continued walking. After walking pass some rooms, she finally turned into a room. At the end of the room was a white haired lady seating up straight, her back strain being cushioned by a pillow. Beside the bed where the old woman was laid, was a white plastic side table. On it was a simple cubicle glass container which was filled one fifth with water with a few stalks of chrysanthemum stuffed into the container.

“Obaasan!” Akime called out as she hurried over. The old lady turned and looked and broke into a sweet smile. Akime rushed over to hug her grandmother after she placed a basket of fruits on the one legged trolley like table.

“Who visited you?” Akime asked as she peeled an orange and passed it to her.

“Oh. That boy whom visited during my last checkup.” Her grandmother informed as she accepted the peeled orange and put one wedge into her mouth and chewed it. “Actually, he visits me daily.” Her grandmother smiled.

“Really?” Akime asked as she popped a wedge of orange into her mouth.

“Akime… I want… I want to drink green tea… do you mind helping me to buy?” Akime’s grandmother asked. Akime nodded and stood up. “Young man, I would also like a bun please.” The grandmother requested to Nicol. Nicol pointed to himself blurred by the sudden request by Akime’s kind looking grandmother and eventually nodded his head. While walking down the corridor, suddenly, an army of people wearing white cloaks rushed down the hallway. Akime and Nicol stood aside to let them pass. Akime looked over to see which ward they had entered into. When the doctor and nurses on duty reached the ward where Akime’s grandmother is warded, they turned in and rushed in. Anxious, Akime rushed into the ward and saw the whole army of white around her grandmother. She tried to squeeze through the crowd but was stopped by a nurse who pushed her outside and pulled the beige curtain to separate the bed from the viewing of other patients. Nicol hurried over to Akime and placed his hand on Akime’s shoulder in hope that this would calm Akime’s thumping heart that is thumping in her ribcage. Then, the beige curtain was finally opened. Akime immediately rushed to the doctor.

“Doctor, how’s Obaasan?” Akime asked worriedly.

“I’m sorry, we had tried our best.” The doctor apologized before leaving the ward. Akime stared emptily at the bed where her grandmother’s motionless body was laid.

“Obaasan!” Akime yelled as she rushed over to her grandmother’s side. “obaasan, wake up please… wake up… don’t leave me alone…” Akime wept as she nudged her grandmother’s limp body but her grandmother did not stir.

“Nurse, what happened?” Akime asked as she stopped a nurse who helped the doctor in the failed attempt of reviving her grandmother.

“Oh, the oxygen tube was unplugged.” The nurse revealed before leaving the ward. Akime sat beside the bed and tears naturally seeped out of her eyes.

“Why?” Akime cried. Suddenly, somebody nudged her. She turned and saw Nicol, in his hand was a letter. Akime took the letter and saw that it was addressed to her. Curious, she cracked the letter open and retrieved out the folded into thirds letter.

[Akime;

By the time you are reading this, I most probably have already left the world to join your mother and father. You must be hating grandma for leaving you behind.

But in fact you are never alone. I lied when I told you that he was gone. He is actually still living. I placed him in an orphanage that is being ran by my friend. I told you that he is gone as I do not want you to grieve. Please take care of yourself.

My dear child, I watched you grow up and I know your heart. Always, you had been that kind little soul who is always willing to help and always be generous and never ever selfish. Probably you got this from your mother. I do not know, but you have sacrifice so much just for an old useless woman like me. You gave up so much, so now, let me repay you.

My last wish, is that you, my favourite child and granddaughter, is that you will live a life with no regrets. Take good care of yourself, and I wish you eternal happiness. Do not feel guilty to chase after the man you died once I have left you, for I gave myself up for the very purpose of you to find happiness.

Love;

Grandmother]

Akime felt the grip on her paper tightened as more tears emerged and slipped down her cheek.

“Obaasan… I will definitely live happily…” Akime promised. “Nicol, lets go back to the house.” Akime said determinedly.

As the morning arrived, the sun slowly climbed up the ladder rungs and soon it was already peeping over the building tops. As it shone brightly to bring life to the sleeping city, a particular somebody was still in bed. His clothes were thrown all over the room. The vases that once stood proudly on the upper arm height brown cabinet were now reduced into nothing but shards of glass that were broken in a sudden burst of fury by its master. If a detective were to enter the room, he may just state that this room has just been burglared.

// DING DONG //

The half naked man groaned as he heard the annoying little doorbell ring so early in the morning. He buried his head under his white fluffy pillow hoping that the persistent bell presser would just buzz off. But, on the contrary, it just continued ringing and ringing. The man fed up, stood up and stormed to the door and opened it. In front of him, he saw a young lad with green hair and a pair of anxious pale blue pupils.

“Come with me, you are the only one that can save her.” He said urgently.

“What are you talking about?” The owner of the house asked still angry that he was being disturbed from his sleep.

“Faster, she… Crap! Its Akime!” The green haired lad finally revealed. The owner of the house stood at the door and looked at the visitor.

“Nicol, Akime has no longer any relation with me.” The guy sighed as he retreated into his messy house.

“And who is that to decide?” Nicol challenged. “Sui, look at me. Akime still loves you.” Nicol told him. Sui sat on the couch and thought through it. Suddenly, Sui stood up and headed to his bedroom and slammed the door shut. Nicol sighed as he rested on the sofa back rest.

‘I’ve failed…’ Nicol thought depressingly. Just when he was about to leave, the bedroom door swung open and there was Sui fully dressed with a white hood and a

black shorts with a pair of black sneakers.

“Lets go.” Sui said to Nicol. Nicol smiled and nodded.

‘Wait for us Akime… wait…’ Nicol prayed as he drove his metallic blue convertible down the roaring with life road.
